This workshop provides a wide range of personal, professional and practical insights for counsellors and psychotherapists who are considering setting up a private practice.
Drawing on my own recent and ongoing experiences as a therapist in private practice, I will be sharing my knowledge and inviting discussion and reflection on a number of key topics.
The program for the day is divided into the following broad sections:

The personal side of private practice: me and my journey, my support crew and
my potential clients
- Perspectives and Strategies
Short-term and long-term views: assumptions, expectations, timelines and
goals; strategies for start-up, survival and growth

What I’m offering, how I’m offering it and how I’m
going to reach my potential clients
- Working IN the Business
setting up internal processes, turning enquiries into
clients, refining your service delivery, follow-up
- Staying In Business
Sustaining yourself and your practice, with or without Medicare rebates
- Your questions and areas of concern

Noel Giblett (BA, BSW, MAASW Acc) is a Medicare accredited Individual and Relationship Counsellor in private practice. He has been counselling
men and couples for twenty-five years. He is the former manager and supervisor of a not-for-profit counselling service and the author of several
articles on men’s issues and marriage.
